Description

Prichard’s were appointed Principal Contract by Persimmon to install over 7,000m of great crested newt fencing around the former Llanilid open cast site.

Prichard’s have also carried out a 300,000m3 earthworks cut and fill exercise across the site and used High energy impact compaction methods across the site to ensure there are no differential settlement issues and provide significant ground improvement.

The team have installed several new surface water and foul drainage lines across the site, a 400m long 1200mm diameter line at 4-5m depth, plus 600mm concrete pipes and smaller 375mm lines. Several new headwall outlets and inlets have also been constructed on the lines.

Full road construction has been laid and installed above the drainage to allow new construction access into the development and provide the house builders access to start constructing the plots.

There are significant ecological constraints throughout the site, with the main issue being great crested newts and dormice, all works have been overseen by ecological consultants Tetra Tech to ensure compliance with the site licenses.
