About Tom Prichard Contacting Ltd
Tom Prichard Contracting Ltd (Prichard’s), was established in 1995 and incorporated in 2005. We are a multidisciplinary organisation offering services within the transport, demolition, engineering, civil construction, plant hire, recycling, remediation and energy sectors. We operate 3 recycling centres within the South Wales region, with a focus on the circular economy. We specialise in soils and stone recycling, providing a recycled aggregate range for reuse within the construction industry, as well as utilising large scale, open windrow composting to recycle household green waste into a PAS 100 certified compost. We are advocates of the long-term partnership approach and benefit from a high level of repeat business in both the public and private sectors. Our participation in various framework agreements allows us to collaborate with clients from an early stage in the delivery of projects. All projects completed by us are done so with environmental improvement as the primary focus. We have implemented environmental management systems, environmental protection procedures and policies and have applied these in a wide range of environmental designations including within Sites of Scientific Special Interest. As a business we are continually investing and updating our plant fleet with the latest engines to help reduce our carbon footprint. We employ approximately 200 people in a range of industries and pride ourselves on the skills and dedication demonstrated by our staff to deliver projects on time, safely and efficiently. We are always aspiring to leave the environment around us better than we found it, to create a better world for both this generation and the next. It is this philosophy that forms the foundation of principals and services offered by Prichard’s.
Commitment to Achieving Net Zero
Prichard’s is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050. We are intending to undertake a feasibility review to move the net zero emissions target to 2045, five years ahead of the government deadline.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Baseline Year: | 1st April 2021 – 31st March 2022 |
Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations: |
We forecast that the requirement to report under the Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) scheme within the companies (Directors Report) will apply to the company within the next 3-7 years. In response to this, Prichard’s have compiled the necessary emissions information within its operational control, from the financial year 2021/22 and identified this as the baseline year. All future carbon reductions shall be calculated using this baseline year. This report is to be issued between the 1st April and 30th June following the respective reporting period. Scope 1-3 emissions have been determined for the baseline year using the greenhouse gas (GHG) protocol methodology. All greenhouse gases as named by the Kyoto protocol have been provided in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e). A market-based methodology has been utilised for the determination of scope 2 emissions. For scope 3, we have utilised a range of actual and estimated data. Estimated data forms the upstream transportation and distribution calculation and downstream transportation and distribution calculations not previously accounted for within scope 1, i.e., third party data and for wastes generated in operations. Actual data forms the subsets for business travel and employee commuting. A breakdown of the scope 3 emissions has been provided. The baseline measurement presented in this carbon reduction plan is specific to Prichard’s in order to measure compliance with the procurement policy note (PPN) 06/21. The data reported in this plan is in line with UK Government Environmental Reporting Guidelines (March 2019) and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Technical Guidance for Reporting Scope 3 Emissions (v.1.0). |

Emissions Reduction Targets
In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets. We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 11,450.00 tCO2e by 2027. This is a reduction of 15%. We are investigating the option to determining interim targets to ensure that our ongoing progress towards net zero carbon emissions are monitored closely and consistently and to identify room for improvement if needed.
Carbon Reduction Projects
Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives
The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented during/since the 2021/22 baseline. The carbon emission reduction projected to be achieved by these schemes within the 2022/23 reporting period equate to 710.91 tCO2e, a 5.28% reduction against the 2021/22 baseline and the measures will be in effect when performing the contract.
