Description

Prichard’s were instructed by Swansea City Council’s consultants for the project, Wardell-Armstrong, to set-up and deliver Water Treatment Equipment to allow pumping of the basement structures of the listed buildings. This was undertaken to allow structural surveys and investigations of the building structures to inform the development proposals for the listed monuments. Prichard’s were able to deliver the project ahead of programme and on budget, working with the relevant stakeholders for the project, including CADW and Swansea City Council. We successfully mobilised our large 80m3 sealed holding and treatment tank, dewatering infrastructure and equipment, including high flowrate submersible pumps. Following a rigid and detailed testing regime, we secured a temporary discharge consent for the disposal of all treated waters, delivering cost savings and a significant reduction in the associated carbon footprint.

The Lower Swansea Projects comprises several projects located across Swansea, South Wales; restoring and developing for public use, historical monuments associated with Swansea’s copper production heritage.  The Vivian and Musgrave Engine Houses are listed buildings (Grade II listed 11695 and Grade II* listed 11697 respectively), with the Musgrave Engine House and associated Rolling Mills a designated schedule monument (Cadw ref GM483).
